About the Maritime Heritage Alliance / Contact info
The Maritime Heritage Alliance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to
preserving, interpreting, and sharing the maritime heritage of the Great Lakes.
The Maritime Heritage Alliance works toward this mission by:
• Sailing our tall ships MADELINE and WELCOME.
• Dockside tours of our ships in ports of call around the Great Lakes.
• Restoration of smaller boats, both sail and power, representing various
eras in Great Lakes history.
• Educational and interpretive programs at area festivals and schools.
• Collaborative endeavors with other area non-profits.
• Youth programs that contribute to the community through experiential adventures.
The Maritime Heritage Alliance is recognized for its success in the construction
and restoration of wooden vessels, and its efforts to promote and preserve
the history of wooden boats in the Great Lakes. Founded in 1982 by a group
of historic boat buffs, the Alliance has expanded every year
and now counts among its friends and membership people from all 50 states
and numerous foreign countries.
